Can you imaine how embarassed he was when he realized what the trees were upto? They smugly acted as if they hadn't been giving Mark LePlant a rather dreadful time, and smirked rudely when he trotted around them. It had been a messy operation, one involving thousands of yards of shoelaces broken up and left to soak up a curry-like marinade. It was such a complicated process that I shall not get into the details here, but I am willing to share one of many results: Mark LePlant was never again caught in a forest without fancy new shoes.
